Cellular & Molecular Intelligence (CMI) is a high-impact, peer-reviewed journal at the forefront of life sciences, dedicated to exploring how biological systems exhibit and process intelligence.
Research published in CMI spans all areas of pharmaceutical and therapeutic inquiry, including medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, pharmaceutics, pharmaceutical analysis, experimental and clinical medicine, biotechnology, microbiology, immunology, and systems pharmacology.
Submissions are encouraged in the following core areas:
1. Computational & Artificial Intelligence in Biology (Foundation Models, Agentic AI, Drug Discovery)
2. Cellular Decision-Making & Intelligence (Biological Logic Gates, Immune Intelligence, Neuro-Molecular Networks)
3. Systems Biology & Multi-Omics Integration (Digital Twins, Spatial Intelligence, Network Pharmacology)
4. Programmable & Synthetic Therapeutics (CRISPR & Beyond, Molecular Robotics, Synthetic Circuitry)
The journal aims to bridge molecular biology and computational intelligence to redefine how biological complexity is understood and how therapies are conceived, designed, and translated into clinical applications.
Our mission is to accelerate progress from descriptive biology to predictive and generative biomedicine by fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration among biologists, chemists, data scientists, and clinicians.
CMI follows a single anonymized review process. Your submission will initially be assessed by our editors to determine suitability for publication.
If deemed suitable, it will typically be sent to a minimum of two reviewers for an independent expert assessment of the scientific quality.
The Editor-in-Chief has final authority over all editorial decisions: Accept, Minor revision, Major revision, or Reject.
CMI is an open access journal. All articles published are made available through a fully open-access model, ensuring immediate and unrestricted access to readers worldwide.
No article processing charges: Currently, no article processing charges are required for publication.
Articles are published under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license, which permits redistribution, reuse, and adaptation provided appropriate credit is given.
CMI follows internationally recognized publication ethics guidelines from COPE, ICMJE, and WAME.
Ethical requirements include: Original research only, No plagiarism or duplicate publication, Accurate reporting of data, Proper citation of sources, Ethical approval for human and animal research.
Submission implies that the work has not been published previously (except as a preprint, abstract, or thesis), is not under consideration elsewhere, and is approved by all authors.
If accepted, the article will not be published elsewhere in the same form without the written consent of the copyright holder.
Generative AI tools cannot be listed as authors. If such tools are used during manuscript preparation (e.g., for language editing or drafting assistance), their use must be clearly disclosed in the Methods or Acknowledgements section.
Authors remain fully responsible for verifying the accuracy, integrity, and originality of all content.
All authors must disclose any financial or personal relationships that could inappropriately influence their work.
If no competing interests exist, state: 'The authors declare that they have no competing interests.'
Authors must disclose all sources of financial support. State the role of the funding organization in study design, data collection, analysis, interpretation, and the decision to submit.
CMI encourages the use of inclusive language that recognizes diversity and conveys respect. Avoid bias, stereotypes, or assumptions based on age, gender, race, ethnicity, culture, sexual orientation, disability, or health condition.
Research involving humans, animals, or eukaryotic cells should consider sex- and gender-based analyses (SGBA). Describe how sex and/or gender were considered in research design and data analysis.
Ensure work is original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere. Every submission must be accompanied by a Cover Letter describing the scope, importance, and novelty of the work.
One author designated as the corresponding author with complete contact details.
All required files uploaded: main manuscript, keywords, figure captions, tables, and supplementary materials.
Manuscript undergone thorough spelling and grammar checks.
All references cited in the text are included in the reference list and vice versa.
Permissions obtained for any copyrighted material.
Provide editable source files (.doc, .docx, or .tex). PDF files are not accepted as source files.
Microsoft Word manuscripts should use a single-column layout. Double-column is permitted for LaTeX.
Remove tracked changes and unnecessary underlining before submission.
Organize manuscripts in the following order: Title page, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusions, Funding, Acknowledgments, References, Figure legends, Tables, and Figures.
Include: Article Title (concise and informative), Author Names (full names), Author Affiliations (institutional affiliations where research was conducted), and Corresponding Author contact details.
150–250 words. Must be able to stand alone. Include: Background, Methods, Key results, and Conclusions.
Provide 4–6 keywords for indexing purposes.
Prepare in editable text format (not images). Number consecutively using Arabic numerals. Include a clear, descriptive caption above each table. Avoid vertical lines and cell shading.
Submit as separate high-resolution files (TIFF for photographs, EPS/PDF for vector graphics).
Minimum resolution: 300 dpi for halftones, 500–600 dpi for combination figures, 1000–1200 dpi for line art.
Use standard sans-serif fonts (Arial/Helvetica). Scale bars must be included for magnification images.
Figure captions must be provided in the main manuscript file, not within the figure image.
Support research with extended datasets, animations, or software. Must be accurate, relevant, and cited in the main text.
Supplementary files are published exactly as submitted, without copyediting.
Accepted in commonly used formats (max 150 MB per file). Provide a representative still image (snapshot) for each video.
CMI strongly encourages authors to share research data (datasets, code, protocols) in public repositories to support transparency and reproducibility.
Include a statement indicating where and how data can be accessed or justifications for restricted access.
Numbered citation style [1] in order of appearance. All cited references must be included in the reference list and vice versa.
